Time Takes Life and Destroys Memory


Gideon Barnes, was born in Southhampton county, Va., December 2, 1791. Removed 
to Jones county, Ga. Settled in Pike county 1826. In honor of him the town of 
Barnesville took its name.


Died May 10, 1871 aged 79 years, 5 months, 8 days.
His end was peace. He enjoyed the full assurance of a blissful immortality.
Let Barnesville forever respect his memory.
