Means of 1729 Brewer Blvd. SW was held Tuesday at Cascade Hill, with burial in Barnesville. The Rev. Grady Lively and the Rev. Herbert Chisenhall officiated. Means died Monday of natural causes. He was born in Barnesville and lived in Atlanta for more than 50 years. He was with Southern Bell Telephone & Telegraph Co. and Western Electric for 35 years. Means was a member of the Capital View Lodge and the Pioneers Club. Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Mildred Shell Means; a daughter, Mrs. D. D. Camp of Atlanta; a son, John Thomas Means of Roswell; sisters, Mrs. Jewell Bankston, Hermia [sic; should be Hermie] Means, Arcola Means, all of Atlanta, and Mrs. Homer Sappington of Barnesville; brothers, Paul Means of Atlanta and Berner Means of Barnesville. Additional Comments: Walter Hillyer Means was born 12 September 1892 in Monroe Co. (now Lamar), GA, the son of John Thomas Means and Annie America (Thurmond) Means. He married Mildred Insigne Shell on 15 June 1918 in Vienna, Dooly Co., GA.
