Her maternal grandparents were William Harrison Thurmond and Amanda Jane Buff of Jones Co. Her paternal grandparents were James Anderson Means and Elizabeth Ann Allen, descendant of Ethan Allen. Her parents were John Thomas Means and Annie America Thurmond of Monroe Co. Miss Hermie lived a good and useful life. She was dedicated to her church and family, was for many years a member of Prospect Methodist Church in Redbone. Later moving her membership to Mary Brannon Church in Atlanta. She was a teacher by profession and acquired discipline by psychological methods. She taught many years at Ramah School in Redbone District. Miss Hermie is survived by Miss Arcola Means, Mr. Paul Anderson Means, Robert Berner Means, Mrs. Allie M. Sappington, and Mrs. Jewel M. Bankston. Funeral was held at Mary Brannon Church in Atlanta. Burial in Fredonia Church cemetery in Redbone. Additional Comments: At this point, the submitter has found no genealogical support that Elizabeth Ann Allen was a descendant of Ethan Allen.
