T. Means Dies At Home In Redbone Mrs. Annie America Means, 86, widow of John Thomas Means died at her home in Redbone Thursday. Mrs. Means had been in declining health for several months prior to her death. Mrs. Means was born in Monroe County and had spent her life in this section. She was a devoted member of Prospect and was active in church affairs. Funeral services were conducted at Prospect Friday with the pastor the Rev. Thomas A. Edgar assisted by Dr. James A. Fraser, officiating. Burial was in Fredonia cemetery. Survivors include her daughters and sons, Mrs. E. J. Keadle, Macon; Misses Hermie and Kola [sic] Means, Redbone; Mrs. T. A. Futch, Rochelle, Ga.; Mrs. Chas. L. Burch, Thomasville; Mrs. H. H. Bankston, Atlanta; W. T. Means, Tampa, Fla.; P. A. Means, Ben Hill, Ga.; W. H. Means, Atlanta; Mrs. H. A. Sappington, Barnesville; R. B. Means, Redbone; brothers and sisters, C. A. Thurmond, Perry; Mrs. E. L. Bryas [sic; should be Bryan], Tampa; Dr. T. D. Thurmond, Griffin; Mrs. George D. Hall, Barnesville; Mrs. Ivan Johnson, Forsyth; 21 grandchildren and 15 great-granchildren. Additional Comments: Annie America Thurmond was born 1 September 1861 near Forsyth in Monroe Co., GA, the daughter of William Harrison Thurmond, Jr. and Amanda Jane Buff Thurmond. She married John Thomas Means on 22 February 1882 in Monroe Co., GA.
