Zebulon, Pike County, Georgia, August 4, 1899 Col. S.N. Woodward Dies Monday night at 11 o’clock, Col. S.N. Woodward, of Barnesville, died at the Magnolia Inn Hotel. For several days Colonel Woodward had been critically ill and it had been feared that he could not recover. He was taken sick about one month ago. During the illness of Col. Woodward the family received many inquiries from friends in Zebulon and elsewhere who were pained to learn of his critical condition. When his death occurred, it cast a gloom over a large circle of friends. Col. Woodward was very generally admired and esteemed and many expressions of sorrow and regret were heard. Col. Woodward was one of the best and most popular lawyers in the Flint circuit. He was honest, conscientious and upright. He was city attorney of Barnesville, solicitor of the county court of Pike and enjoyed a large practice in all the courts of this section of the state. The deceased is survived by two children. Mr. Warren and Miss Grace Woodward. His wife died a few years ago. The funeral occurred at 10 o’clock yesterday morning from the Methodist church, of which the deceased was a prominent member.
