The Atlanta Constitution, October 8, 1904 Boy Who Killed His Father Not Indicted. Griffin, Ga., October 7. - (Special) The grand jury in the case of young Harry Shivers, of Pike County, who shot his father about two months ago in a family row, in session at Zebulon, in that county, returned a no bill after carefully investigating the entire matter. The tradegy was fully written up in the Constitution at the time. Young Shivers was only 14 years of age and in defense of his smaller brothers and sisters and his mother he shot his father, W.J. Shivers, with a double-barreled shotgun, killing him instantly. Sentiment in the community was at the time divided, but after a careful investigation of the affair, the grand jury, it is understood, now returns "no bill." Young Shivers was released from jail this afternoon and came from Zebulon to Griffin, where his mother now lives.
