G. Sappington Dies Suddenly Final rites for John Glenn Sappington, 60, farmer of Redbone Community, Lamar County, were held Monday afternoon at Prospect Methodist Church with the pastor the Rev. Clyde Lancaster, officiating. Burial was in the Sappington- Owen-Bush cemetery nearby. Mr. Sappington was a member of Prospect Church and was a most active member, having served as a steward for a number of years. He has held an office in the Sunday School over a long period of years. He was a member of the Barnesville Circuit organization. He was one member you could always depend on being at his post ready to do his best. His greatest joy was in doing something for his family and his fellow man. Mr. Sappington died suddenly Sunday afternoon following a heart attack at the wheel of his automobile. He was following his mules that were out and he was being trailed by neighbors, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Bush who were helping him. They saw the car when it stopped just before he got to the paved highway, Mr. Bush went to the car and found him in that condition. He was a member of families prominent in the life of the community and was related to a large number of residents there. Survivors include his sisters, Misses Maude and Jessie Sappington, with whom he made his home; Mrs. Mae Slade and Mrs. Grady Langford, both of Meansville; two brothers, W. M. Sappington, of Redbone and Leonard R. Sappington of Barnesville; some nieces and nephews. Pall bearers were Howard Sappington, Milton Bush, Alfred Bush, Zack Sullivan, Everette Bankston and Ralph Bush. McDonald Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
