Smith Dies Unexpectedly Mr. Warren A. Smith, 78, died unexpectedly early Friday morning at his home, 311 Forsyth Street. A native of Monroe County, he had lived most of his life in Lamar County. When he retired in 1955, Mr. Smith had been employed at the Barnesville Post Office for 37 years. The [sic] we an active member of the First Methodist Church of Barnesville where he was an honorary life member of the Official Board. He was a member of the Men's Bible Class of the Sunday School and was a member of the Brotherhood. Survivors include a son, Warren Russell Smith of Memphis, Tenn.; two brothers, L. H. Smith of Covington and William Askin Murphey, of Atlanta; two sisters, Mrs. Zed W. Banks of Thomaston and Mrs. Bertha Yarbrough of Barnesville; three grandchildren, Byron Smith, Ricky Smith and Miss Gayle Smith, all of Memphis, Tenn. Funeral services were conducted Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Frist Methodist Church. The church officials were honorary pallbearers. The Rev. Sam Coker officiated. Burial was in the Greenwood cemetery. Haisten Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
