His sudden and unexpected death came as a great shock and sadness to his mother and other members of the family. He was just reaching the age when his widowed mother and brothers and sisters could look to him for a service which they so much need but almost without warning his life came to an end. He was taken ill last week and grew seriously ill, every effort of the family and physicians failing to bring relief and restoration to health. The funeral and burial occurred Tuesday from Fredonia Congregational church, the impressive service being conducted by Rev. Mr. Stanley, of Atlanta, former pastor. A large crowd of neighbors and friends were present to join in this last tribute to his life. He is survived by his mother, two sisters, Misses Opal and Loryne Sykes, and two small brothers, Everette and Ray Sykes. He is a grandson of Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Bankston and Mr. And Mrs. W. J. Sykes, esteemed people of Lamar county. The grief-stricken loved ones have the deepest sympathy of hosts of friends in their great sorrow.
