Born Nov. 8, 1940 in Pavo to Irene Cummings Hampton of Nashville and the late Tom Hampton, he was retired from Levi Strauss after more than 30 years service. Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his wife, Elaine Hampton of Lakeland; son, Thomas Hampton, Jr. of Lakeland; daughter, Kit Hampton of Lakeland; three brothers, Michael Hampton of Valdosta, James Hampton of Jacksonville, Gerald Hampton of Nashville; sister, Patricia Brown of Willacoochee; one grandchild. A memorial service was held January 28 at 2 p.m. in the Lakeland Seventh Day Adventist Church. A private memorial service was held afterward at the Hampton residence. The congregation sang "Amazing Grave" and "Sweet Bye and Bye." and Angie Watson and Martha Phillips, accompanist, sang "I Come To The Garden Along." Kenneth Watson read "The Life Sketch." Music Funeral Services of Lakeland was in charge of arrangements.
