Hughes Died Tuesday Afternoon Funeral Services Held at His Former Home in Lakeland Mr. J.A. Hughes, aged about 50, passed away at his home in Nashville Tuesday afternoon at 1 o’clock after suffering for about two weeks from pneumonia. Mr. Hughes was born and reared at Lakeland and lived there all his life until about two months ago, when he moved here with his son, Mr. R.O. Hughes. He was a well liked man, prominent in the affairs of Lanier County and many were saddened at his passing. Mr. Hughes was a Mason, a member of the Lakeland lodge. The funeral services were held Wednesday at 4 p.m. at the Lakeland cemetery, conducted by the Lakeland Masonic order and Rev. O.A. Knight of that city. Those surviving are: His wife and two children, Mr. R.O. Hughes, of Nashville, and Mrs. A.W. Gilley, of Thomasville; two half-brothers, Mr. Lige and M. George Tucker of Lakeland; and one sister, Mrs. Tommie Luke, of Willacoochee; besides numerous other relatives.
