Lee, 75, of Lakeland died May 23, 2004 at Louis Smith Memorial Hospital. Born in Lanier County to the late Robert E. and Cordia Bell Knight Lee, he was owner of Lee Grocery (Teeterville Mall) and was a former farmer and brick mason. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during the Korean War. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marie Hand Lee. Survivors include his wife, Melissa Vickers Lee of Lakeland; one daughter, Cordia Lee of Lakeland; two sons, Danny Lee and Darrell Lee, both of Lakeland; two step-sons, J.R. Phillips and Billy Phillips, both of Lakeland; two sisters, Betty Jean Sutton of Nashville and Gladys Lankford of Homerville; seven grandchildren, one great-grandson. Funeral services were held May 25 at 2 p.m. at Empire Primitive Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmy Spikes officiating. The Suggs Family sang "Beulah Land" and "Amazing Grace," and Junior and Bell Palmer sang "I'll Fly Away." Interment was in Empire Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Billy E'Dalgo, Leo Lankford, Billy Vickers, Ronnie Lowery, Mike Hand, Jonathan Fort. Honorary pallbearers were Jesse Connell, Sonny Cowart, Paris Corbitt, Bob Watson, Ben Crum, Casey Spell, Frank Pressley, J.D. Patten, Gene Clements, Craig Courson, Larry Royals, Robert Young.
