Born in Lanier Co. to the late Joseph Candler "Joe" and Nancy Richardson Pierce, he was a retired rural letter carrier, a member of the National Rural Letter Association, Woodman of the World, and Farm Bureau. He was a member of Unity United Methodist Church where he served on the board of trustees and was a member of the Methodist Men. He served with the U.S. Army during WWII. Survivors include his wife, Burma Tomlin Pierce of Lakeland; daughter, JoNan Holbrook of Lakeland; three brothers, J.C. Pierce of Crawfordville, Wilmont Pierce of Axson, McDonald Pierce of Lakeland; two sisters, Dot Ray of Nashville, Jessie Hudson of Valdosta; three grandchildren, three great- grandchildren. Funeral services were held June 25 at Unity United Methodist Church. Laurie Carter sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Amazing Grace," Dan Blankenship sang "You Raise Me Up," Debra Boyd sang "The Lord's Prayer." Denise Brogdon served as organist, and Nell Roquemore, violinist. Interment was in Unity United Methodist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Chandler Pierce, David Pierce, Mike Pierce, Joey Hudson, Alan Jones, Ricky Jones, Clinton Ray, Greg Ray, Mitch Ray, Duane Tomlin, Ronnie Tomlin. Music Funeral Home of Lakeland was in charge of arrangements.
