Atkinson County Citizen - October 16, 2014
 LCPL Clint Austin Smith, 19, formerly of Lakeland, passed away on Sunday, 
October 5, 2014 in Palms, CA. from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.
 He was born in Valdosta on February 9, 1995, to Jesse Gordon Smith and Lanett 
Fender Huff. Two days after graduating from Lowndes High School, he began one of 
his life’s dreams by joining the United States Marine Corps. He was stationed 
with the 3rd Battalion 7th Marines at 29 Palms. During boot camp Clint received 
a Sharp shooter award. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
 Clint was preceded in death by his grandfather, Calvin Fender, grandmother, 
Jerranell Lehman Lightsey, and Uncle Jason Fender. 
 He is survived by his father, Jesse Smith of Valdosta; mother and step-father 
Debbie and Terry L. Huff of Ray City; sister, Amara Huff of Ray City; 
grandmother Dorothy Fender of Lakeland; aunts and uncles, Calvin F. and Tammy 
Fender and Angie Fender of Lakeland, Hayward Fender of Tallahassee, James O. 
Smith, Callie and Glen Moore of Valdosta, great grandmother, Lucy Lehman of 
Valdosta; grandfather, David S. Lightsey of Lakeland; cousins Kala, Josh, Cody, 
Jacob and Autumn Fender, Caleb, Gabe Moore, Sara Smith and several extended 
family members.
 Funeral Services were held on Monday at Southside Baptist church and burial was 
in Fender Cemetery.
 Music Funeral Services was in charge of arrangements.
