Born May 23, 1943 in Lanier County to the late Roy and Agnes Stone, he was employed as a supervisor with the State of Georgia Highway Department for 30 years. He was a charter member of the Lanier County Rescue Team, later to become the Lakeland/Lanier County Fire Department. He was a member of Camp Creek Missionary Baptist Church in Clinch County. Survivors include his wife, Annie Lee Stone of Lakeland, three daughters and sons-in-law, Shannon and Scott Boan of Columbus, Cathy and Alan Harrell of Alapaha, Cheryl and Robbie Lee of Fargo; son and daughter-in-law, Jamie and Wanda Stone of Lakeland; 11 grandchildren, Crystal Touchton (Ron), Heidi Riley (Brent), Amber Anderson (Billy), Paige Stone, Kevin Stone, Russ Harrell, Lance Harrell, Jared O'Guin, Mackenzie Livingston, Anna Lee O'Guin, Mary Grace Lee; give great grandchildren, Kenneth Miller, Chrystian Touchton, Chansley Anderson, Brandon Riley, Amanda Riley; seven sisters and brothers in law, Sue Tucker of Lakeland, Janie and James McGuire of Stockton, Reva and Earl Dent of Lakeland, Wilhemia and Steve Williford of Lakeland, Peggy Stone and Donald Browning of Lakeland, Becky and Delbert Barber of Hazlehurst, Lena and Tony Connell of Lakeland; four brothers and sisters in law, R.J. and Joan Stone of Lakeland, James and Rhonda Stone of Lakeland, John and Karen Stone of Stockton, Bob and Marilyn Stone of Lakeland; nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held March 13 at 3 p.m. at Lakeland Chapel of Music Funeral Services. Interment was in Greenlawn Cemetery. Music Funeral Services was in charge of arrangements.
