Jonas Benton Spivey was born 1792 in Laurens County, GA. He died 1838 in 
Laurens County, GA.  
  
Jonas Benton Spivey was in the War of 1812.  He was a private in Captain Roger 
L. Gambles's Company of Volunteer Infantry, Georgia Militia, belonging to the 
Regiment commanded by Lieut. Colonel J. Johnston.  He appears on the Muster 
Roll dated February 17, 1815 at Savannah indicating that he had joined the 
rendezvous January 28, 1815.  He enlisted for six months.  Since he did not 
live long enough to draw a pension, and his widow remarried; a pension file 
does not exist.  Tradition indicates that he may have been injuried (no 
verification of this has been found in the service records.

He married Molsey Hester, daughter of Jasper Hester and Nancy Redding on March 
1819 in Laurens County Georgia.  Jonas B. Spivey died from Typhoid Fever.

In the 1830 Federal Census, Jonas Benton Spivey (between 30 and 40 years old) 
is living in Emanuel County, Georgia with 2 male children under 5 years of age, 
1 male child between 10 and 15 years old, 2 female children under 5 years old, 
1 female child between 5 and 10 years old, and his wife (between 20 and 30 
years old.  He had no slaves.

Jonas Benton married Molsey Hester on March 7, 1819 in Laurens County, GA. 
Molsey (parents Jasper Hester and Nancy Redding) was born 1800 in North 
Carolina. She died est. 1885 in Laurens County, GA.  
  
Jonas Benton Spivey and Molsey Hester had the following children:
 
  1. Daniel Spivey was born January 11, 1829 in Laurens County, GA. He died 
June 4, 1898 in Laurens County, GA.    

  2. Green Spivey was born 1821 in Georgia. He died 1859.    

  3. Jasper "Jeff" Spivey was born April 16, 1826 in Laurens County, GA. He 
died August 2, 1911 in Swainsboro, Emanuel County, GA.    

  4. Rachel Spivey was born January 1835 in Laurens County, GA. She died in 
Laurens County, GA.  Rachel was a weaver.  She is buried at Silver Leaf 
Primitive Baptist Cemetery in Laurens County, GA.

  5. Jane Spivey was born 1837 in Laurens County, GA.    

  6. William M. Spivey was born March 24, 1839 in Laurens County, GA. He died 
May 31, 1911 in Georgia.
