Otis Benjamin Spivey (parents Hardy Smith Spivey and M. Elizabeth Smith) was 
born November 21, 1904 in Laurens County, GA. He died February 11, 1965 in 
Unadilla, GA.  
  
Otis was the last child born to Hardy Smith Spivey and M. Elizabeth Smith.

The 1910 Laurens County Federal Census shows that Otis (age 6) was living with 
his parents. 

The 1930 Federal Census shows that Otis (age 25) was living in Laurens County 
with his wife, Jeanette (age 24) and a son, Hardy E. (age 6) and a daughter, 
Irvis R. (age 3).  He was a section man for the railroad, and he was not a 
veteran.  The census shows that Otis was 19 years old when he married 
Jeannette, who was 17 years old.  Jeannette was born in Georgia, could read and 
write; her parents were also born in Georgia.

Otis Spivey was living in Unadilla, GA at the time of his death.  He died 
Thursday, February, 13, 1965 in an Augusta Hospital.  Funeral services were 
held on Sunday at Blue Springs Baptist Church in Laurens County.  Rev. J. W. 
Holland officiated, with burial held in the church cemetery.  Odom Funeral Home 
of Unadilla was in charge of arrangements.

Otis was a painter and a member of the Blue Springs Baptist Church.

Otis had emphysema and was unable to work most of the time.   

Otis was buried at Blue Springs Cemetery, Laurens County, GA; then his children 
had him moved to County Line Baptist Church Cemetery, so that, he could be 
buried to his second wife, Thelma Luke Spivey.

Otis Benjamin married Nettie Lavora "Jeanette" Daniels. Nettie 
Lavora "Jeanette" was born 1905. She died in Salt Lake City, UT.  
  
Otis Benjamin Spivey and Nettie Lavora "Jeanette" Daniels had the following 
children:
 
  1. Hardy Spivey was born February 26, 1924 in Dooly County, GA. He died in 
IL.  Was injured in WWII. Died in Illinois. Tail Gunner in Navy, shot down, 
strong swimmer and was able to save his men, then shot by Japanese after saving 
men.  His shoulder was shattered and a metal plate was put in.
  
  2. Joyce Spivey was born May 3, 1930 in Dublin, GA.    

  3. Doris Spivey.   

  4. Otistine Oweda Spivey was born 1935 in Dublin, GA. Changed her name when 
she was 16 years old to Janice.

Otis Benjamin married Thelma Luke. Thelma was born in Douglas, GA.  
  
Otis Benjamin Spivey and Thelma Luke had the following children:

  4. Otis Spivey, Jr.
