It is believed that the first owner was Frederick Pope, known to his family as Uncle "Fed". His daughter, Sallie Lou Pope, who married R. N. Morse, then inherited the land. It was passed down through the generations to the present owner, Mrs. W. Coleen Pope, wife of James Clinton Pope, dec'd March 5, 1990. Mrs. W. Coleen Pope still lives directly across the road from the Pope Cemetery and maintains it. The oldest grave belongs to Eliza C. (Pope) Haskins, wife of W. T. Haskins, born August 29, 1842, died September 2, 1878. The latest grave is James Clinton Pope, son of Frederick and Elizabeth (Watts) Pope. Directions are as follows: From the Laurens Co. Court House, proceed out Route 80 west to Dudley, GA. From the stop light at the entrance to Dudley, continue for about 1.3 miles to Mrs. Coleen Pope's residence on the left of the highway. Across the road to the right at the top of the hill is the cemetery. POPE CEMETERY Beginning at the west corner: First Row 1. John R. Pope June 20, 1889 Sept 29, 1889 2. Cecil S.
