"Bob" Nobles Jr. bnobles @windstream.net December 18, 2009, 2:25 pm The Dublin Courier Herald Front Page March 23, 1981 A Dublin man was killed early today when the truck he was driving and a tractor-trailer rig were involved in a collision at the intersection of Jefferson and Moore Streets. Officer Wayne Cain of the Dublin Police Department identified the dead man as Charles D. "Stump" Prescott, 74, of Rt. 7 Dublin. Cain indicated that Prescott died at the scene of the accident which occurred at 6:18am. Driver of the tractor-trailer rig was identified a James Arnold McQuithy of Logansville. The rig is owned by Mead Corp. of Atlanta. Although no witnesses to the accident have been found, McQuithy indicated to police that Prescott's vehicle ran under a red light through the intersection, traveling east on Moore street. The tractor-trailer rig was moving south on Jefferson Street. According to McQuithy, his rig struck the pick-up on the driver's side near the door, pushing the truck onto the curbing near the southeast corner of the intersection. McQuithy was not injured in the accident. Cain described Prescott's injuries as a broken leg, head lacerations and possible internal injuries. Cain, along with Officer Kathy Logan, investigated the accident. Funeral arangements for Prescott are incomplete but will be announced by Townsend Funeral Home.
