                             Melvin Ray Bowen
 Services for Melvin Ray Bowen, 65, of 141 Circle Drive, East Dublin, are 
scheduled for 2pm Thursday at the chapel of Townsend Brothers Funeral Home. 
The Rev. Ken Jernigan and the Rev. W. E. Flanders will officiate and burial 
will follow in Northview Cemetery.
 A native of Richmond County, Mr. Bowen had been a resident of Laurens County 
for most of his life. He was the son of the late Woodrow Foskey and the late 
Josephine Lane Foskey. He was a member of the East Dublin Baptist Church, a 20-
year member of Civil Defense, a member of the Dublin Amateur Radio Club Area 
Hams, and was retired from Forstmann and Company, Inc. Mr. Bowen died on 
Wednesday in a Dublin hospital.
 Survivors include his wife, Carolyn K. Bowen of East Dublin; a son, Steve 
Bowen of East Dublin; two daughters, Joann Starley of Atlanta and Melba 
Whittington of Dublin; grandchildren, Daniel Knight, Blaine Oxford, Jacob 
Whittington, Brooke Dowling, Jessica Bowen, Kenya Oxford, and Vanessa 
Whittington; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Rita Gilbert of Augusta.
 Jimmy Allen, Carl Alex Robinson, Jimmy Passmore, Virgil Allen, Willard 
McNeal,  and Johnny Fulford will serve as pallbearers. Honorary escort are the 
members of the Dublin Amateur Radio Club Area Hams.
 The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9pm at Townsend Brothers 
Funeral Home, who has charge of the arrangements.
