(Jim) Carroll williamcarrollj@bellsouth.net October 27, 2011, 8:16 pm The Dublin Courier Herald 4-26-1941 Burns Fatal To Miss Chance Funeral Services Held Today At Mount Zion Church Funeral services for Miss Retha Chance, 45, of Dublin, who died in a hospital here Friday afternoon from burns received about two months ago when her clothing caught fire from an open grate in the home of a patient she was attending, were held at 11 o'clock this morning at Mount Zion Baptist Church. The services were conducted by the Revs. J. E. Townsend and C. E. Vines. Burial was in the church cemetery with Townsend Brothers Funeral Home in charge. Miss Chance was a native of Dodge County, coming to Dublin about four years ago. She was a member of the Dudley Baptist Church. Surviving are two brothers, Henry Chance of Eastman and Johnnie Chance of Jesup; two sisters, Mrs. Ira Davis of Dudley and Miss Maggie Chance of Dublin; and the following nieces and nephews: Mr. and Mrs. Silas Yawn, Danville; Mrs. George Fowler, Danville; Miss Minnie Lou Davis, Dudley; Mrs. J. W. Passmore, Dublin; Miss Arndelle Chance and Fred Chance, Eastman; and Mr. and Mrs. J. K. Chance, College Park. Additional Comments: Georgia death certificate #9670.
