(Jim) Carroll williamcarrollj@bellsouth.net August 2, 2013, 7:12 pm The Dublin Courier Herald 6-05-1973 Martha Mathis Connelle Funeral services for Mrs. Martha Mathis Connelle, 81, of 301 Washington Street, will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the East Dublin Assembly of God Church, with the Rev. Charles Elliott and the Rev. J. David Edenfield officiating. Burial will be in Silver Leaf Baptist Church Cemetery and Townsend Brothers Funeral Home will direct arrangements. Mrs. Connelle was a native of Johnson County, but was reared in Laurens. She was the widow of Chales Connelle and a member of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Connelle died Monday night in a local hospital. Her survivors are two sons, F. P. Churchwell of Dublin and A. C. Churchwell of Warner Robins; two daughters, Mrs. Mary Lilly Roach and Mrs. Bythia C. Burnsed of Dublin; 14 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Donnie Calahan, Randall Estes, Timmy Gillis, Roy Gillis, David Osborne, Joe Churchwell, and Freddie Churchwell and the honorary escort will include C. W. Brantley, Robert Lewis, Ernest Perry, R. I. Garrett, Junior Garrett, Danny Foskey, Wallace Miller, Buck Curry, and W. H. Mimbs. NOTE--This obituary spells the last name as Connelle; however, the death certificate and marriage certificate spells it as Connell. Additional Comments: Martha was born 11 Jun 1892 to Amos C. Mathis and Catherine "Callie" Williams Mathis. Her first husband was Paul Charles Churchwell.
