Couey Funeral services for Anderson Monroe Couey, 63, life-long resident of Laurens County who made his home on Dublin Route 4, will be held this afternoon at 4 o'clock at the Bethsaida Baptist Church with the Rev. C. K. Everett and the Rev. John Meeks officiating with Townsend Bros. Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Burial will be in Dublin Memorial Gardens. Mr. Couey was a son of the late Ira Couey and Nola Anderson Couey. He was a member of the New Bethel Baptist Church. Mr. Couey died early Tuesday in a local hospital following an extended illness. Pallbearers will be James Bracewell, W. C. Tapley, J. C. Nobles, James Nobles, Ben Bridges, and Melvin Dominy. The body will lie in state at the Townsend Chapel until one hour before the funeral. Survivors include his wife, the former Miss Evelyn Lawrence; two sons, Ira D. Couey, US Army stationed in Sarasota, Fla. and Anderson Lamar Couey of Richmond, Va.; one daughter, Mrs. Barbara Ann Williams, Mountain View; two brothers, D. B. Couey of Dublin and James Couey of Uvalda; six sisters, Mrs. Eddie Stewart and Mrs. Wimberly Outlaw, both of Mt. Vernon, and Mrs. Helen Register, Mrs. Nettie Robertson, Mrs. Geneva Thompson, and Mrs. Evie Williamson, all of Dublin; and five grandchildren.
