(Jim) Carroll williamcarrollj@bellsouth.net February 21, 2013, 8:13 pm The Dublin Courier Herald 3-6-1972 Mrs. Effie Irby Drew Funeral services for Mrs. Effie Irby Drew, 58, of 812 North Church St., who died in alocal hospital this morning after an illness of three weeks, will be held from the Moore Street Baptist Church Tuesday at 3pm. The Rev. Bartley Freeman will officiate and burial will be in the Dublin Memorial Gardens. Townsend Brothers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Active pallbearers will be Don Fordham, George Raburn. J. M. Hayes, Tennyson Rawlins, Huel Lake, and Bill Lewis. Members of the Dublin Fire Department, the Civitan Club, and others will form an honorary escort. Mrs. Drew was a lifelong resident of Laurens County and a member of the Moore Street Baptist Church. She was a retired employee of J. P. Stevens and Co. Inc. Surviving are her husband, Earl Drew; a stepson, Robert T. Drew; her mother, Mrs. Sallie Irby, all of Dublin; two sisters, Mrs. Grace Manning of Dublin and Mrs. S. B. Howard of Arkansas and a number of nieces and nephews and other relatives. The family will receive their friends at the Townsend Funeral Home tonight from 7-9pm. Additional Comments: Effie was born 21 Jan 1914 to J. Elmo Irby, who is buried at Pine Hill Methodist Church Cemetery, and Sallie A. Blizzard Irby, who is buried in Dublin Memorial Gardens. Georgia death certificate #007000.
