Franklin St., Dublin, will be held Friday at 4pm in the chapel of Townsend Funeral Home. The Rev. C. E. Vines and the Rev. J. W. Wallis will officiate. Burial will be in Northview Cemetery. A native of Emanuel County, Mrs. Gardner was the daughter of the late Horace and Mary Wilkes Davis of Emanuel County. She was a resident of Laurens County for most of her life. She was a retired employee of J. P. Stevens Co. and a charter member of Clearview Baptist Church. Mrs. Gardner died Wednesday in a local hospital after an extended illness. Survivors include four daughters, Reta Scarboro and Waudena Simons of Dublin, Sheila Mallory of Savannah, and Neta Buscher of Kissimmee, Fla.; one son, James F. Garner of Dublin; one sister, Cleola Fort of Macon; 8 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be W. L. Simons, Hugh Smith, Ray Porter, Frank Ayres, J. W. Scarboro Jr., and Herman Hudson Jr. The body will lie in state at Townsend Funeral Home until the funeral hour. The family will be at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Simons, 709 Cardinal Dr. and will receive friends at Townsend Funeral Home tonight from 7:30-9pm. Additional Comments: Vera was born 4 Aug 1908. Her first husband was William Sessions Foskey who is buried at Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery. Georgia death certificate #033303.
