(Jim) Carroll williamcarrollj@bellsouth.net February 8, 2013, 3:42 pm The Macon Telegraph 12-14-1951 Page 35 Nollie Gay Dies Here After Lingering Illness Nollie Gay, painter of 2681 Walnut Avenue, died in a local hospital at 11am Thursday, after a lingering illness. Mr. Gay was born in Laurens County, the son of Waver Gay and Mrs. Lucinda Heath Gay, and had lived in Macon since 1944. Surviving are his wife, the former Miss Addie Mae Howell, Macon; four sons, Lewis O. Gay, William Troy Gay, James Arthur Gay, and Carris W. Gay, Macon; four daughters, Mrs. Willie Mae Cofield, Mrs. Claudia Rigby, Mrs. Bessie Osborne, and Mrs. Annette Fletcher, Macon; 23 grandchildren; a brother, C. W. Gay, Brunswick; four sisters, Mrs. Winnie Mae Warren and Mrs. Leona Luke, both of Cochran, Mrs. Uretha Thigpen, Jacksonville, and Mrs. Allie Brown, Savannah. Funeral services will be held at the Retter Springs Church, near Cadwell, at 11AM Saturday. Burial will be in the church yard there. The body will lie in state in the church from 10:30am to 11am.
