Empire State – Spalding County – Week of February 27, 1856
Departed this life at Dublin, Laurens County, on Wednesday, the 30th ult., D. 
Lamott Sheftall, a member of the Bar of the Southern Circuit, in the 34th year 
of his age.  The deceased was a native of Savannah, and a descendant of the 
ancient and honorable family of Sheftall’s whose history is identified with 
that of Savannah from its earliest settlement.  He was a young man of promise, 
noble character, and much esteemed among his acquaintances.
