                             Jerry M. Hester
 Jerry M. Hester, 77, of Rt. 6 Dublin, died Monday morning in a local hospital 
after an extended illness. He was born and reared in Laurens County and was a 
lifelong resident of the Rt. 6 community.
 He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Alex Hester of Laurens County and his 
wife was the late Gladys Stewart Hester of Laurens County. Mr. Hester was a 
member and Deacon of the Blue Springs Baptist Church, a veteran of World War 
II, and a retired farmer and barber.
 He is survived by one son, Rufus G. Hester of Dublin; one daughter, Mrs. Lois 
H. Wilkes of Rt. 6 Dublin; 6 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and many 
other relatives.
 Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 3:00pm at the Blue Springs Baptist 
Church with Rev. Joseph W. Bland, Rec. C. F. Vines, and Rev. Foy Spivey 
officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be in state 
at the Townsend Chapel until 2:00pm today when it will be placed in the church.
 Active pallbearers will be: Murray Wilkes, Frank Wilkes, Ira Hammock, Bernard 
Hinlev, Mark Jones, and Billy Dominy. Honorary pallbearers will include the 
deacons of the church.
 Townsend Brothers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
 

Additional Comments:
Jerry was born 11 Sep 1895 to Alexander L. "Alex" Hester and Elizabeth Unknown 
Hester. Georgia death certificate #013750. His parents as well as his wife are 
also buried at Blue Springs.
