Lee of 108 LaCross St., Dublin, a retired dentist who practiced dentistry in the Professional Building for 65 years, died Wednesday evening after an illness of several months. He was 87. Services for Dr. Lee will be held at 11am Friday in the C. Homer Adams Chapel of Adams Funeral home. The Rev. James Faircloth will officiate. Burial will be in Dublin Memorial Gardens with Masonic rites at the graveside. A native of Laurens County, Dr. Lee was a 1913 graduate of the Southern Dental College in Atlanta. After joining the US Army during World War I in 1917, he returned to Dublin a Major and opened his office on the third floor of the Professional Building in 1919, where he worked extracting teeth and making dentures until his retirement in 1978. He was a former president of the District Dental Society. The son of the late William Hayden Lee and Anne Eliza Sheppard Lee, Dr. Lee was a Shriner and a member of Henry Memorial Presbyterian Church. Survivors include his wife, Eloise Hodges Lee of Dublin; a daughter, Barbara L. Vaughn of Dublin; a son, George R. Lee Jr. of Rome; four grandchildren; two brothers, Uly Lee of Rochelle and Ernest Lee of Bartow, Fla.; two sisters, Alma L. Carmichael and Lucile L. Mashburn, both of Rochelle. Pallbearers will be Hodges Rowland, Torn Peters, Dr. J. W. Zetterower, Pete Raymer, Joe Hill, David Mercer, Dr. Robert E. Davis, and Julus Lynn. An honorary escort will include Earnest Brown, Dr. J. A. Bell Jr., Wilbur Jones, Dawson Kea, Marvin Mercer, Herbert Brandon, Dr. H. J. Strange, George Penn, Robert Garbutt, Carl Williams, Edwin Hodges, and W. S. Simmons.
