              DEATH  OF  A  GOOD  MAN.

Mr. W. E. Lowery Peacefully Passes Away.

Last Sunday, at about the hour of 11 o'clock, Mr. W. E. Lowery peacefully 
passed away at his home eight miles west of Eastman.  He had suffered 
considerably during the past ten months from a complication of diseases.

Mr. Lowery was about seventy-nine years old, and was one of the best known 
men, and among the most prominent farmers in the county..  Besides a widow, he 
leaves nine children, all grown, to mourn his loss.

Excepting one son who died in the war, Mr. Lowery was the first of his 
immediate to die.  He was a good man, a good citizen and a good neighbor, and 
has been a consistent member of the Methodist church for many years.

The body was brought to Eastman and laid to rest in Woodlawn Cemetery at 2 
o'clock Monday afternoon, Revs. B. S. Sentell  and  T. Rawlins conducting a 
short but appropriate service.

The Times-Journal offers its condolence to the bereaved ones.

Compiler Notes: William Elcainer "Caner" Lowery was born 15 Dec 1815 in 
Laurens County, Georgia and died 22 October 1893 in Dodge County, Georgia.  
I've yet to learn of his parents name.  He married  Nancy Helen Maloy a 
daugter of Hugh M Maloy  &  Jeannette Bain she was born May 1824 in Telfair 
County, Georgia and died 17 Jan 1907 in Dodge County, Georgia (per obituary).  
The date on the grave says 1906.
