Maddox Jr., 70, of Lovett will be held at 2:30pm from Lovett Methodist Church with the Rev. W. E. McCord and the Rev. Joe Lanier officiating. Burial will be in the Brewton Cemetery. Mr. Maddox died unexpectedly Wednesday in a local hospital. Townsend Brothers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements and nephews will serve as pallbearers. The body will remain at the family home from Thursday afternoon until the funeral hour. Mr. Maddox was a lifelong resident of Laurens County. He was a carpenter and member of the Carpenters' Union of Brunswick, was a member of the Lovett Methodist Church, and of the Woodmen of the World. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lois Williamson Maddox of Lovett; a son, Lewis A. Maddox III of Milledgeville; two daughters, Mrs. Wesley Law of Dublin and Ms. Barnie Collins Jr. of Milledgeville; three sisters, Mrs. Emory Williams of Douglas, Mrs. Archie Underwood of Dublin, and Mrs. Ola Ford of Milledgeville. Five grandchildren also survive. Additional Comments: Lewis was born 9-1-1900. His first wife was Elizabeth "Lizzie Mae" Brantley Maddox. Elizabeth is buried at Baldwin Memorial Gardens in Milledgeville, Georgia. Georgia death certificate #009783.
