(Jim) Carroll williamcarrollj@bellsouth.net January 27, 2009, 9:04 pm The Dublin Courier Herald 2-22-1958 Front Page McGowan Rites Sunday Final rites will be said Sunday afternoon at 3:00 o'clock at Marie Baptist Church for Mrs. Ila Wyatt McGowan, 49, Dublin Route 1, who died Friday afternoon in a local hospital. Interment will be in the Marie Church Cemetery and the Rev. Frank Singleton and the Rev. Ervin Flanders will officiate with Townsend Brothers Funeral Home directing. She will remain at Townsend Chapel until time of the services. Pallbearers will be Freeman Scarborough, Ben Maddox Jr., Nathaniel Scarborough, Horace McGowan, and Bill McGowan. She was born and reared in Laurens County and was a lifelong resident of the Marie Community and was a member of the Marie Baptist Church. She was the daughter of the late Shelly Wyatt and Ola Smith Wyatt of Laurens. Survivors include her husband, Leonard McGowan, whom she married 25 years ago; step-children, Edgar McGowan of Dublin and Mrs. Lucile Davis of Dublin; one brother, C. S. Wyatt, Dublin Route 1; four sisters, Mrs. D. N. Henry of Brookville, Fla., Mrs. Mardie Horton of Dublin Route 1, Mrs. Tom Everett of Dublin, and Miss Rosa Lee Wyatt of Dublin Route 1.
