Mims, 74, of 372 Fairview Avenue, died at 11:15am yesterday in a local hospital after a long illness. Funeral services will be held at 3pm Wednesday in the chapel of Hart's Mortuary. The Rev. Andrew W. Rogers and the Rev. Glenn C. Burris will officiate and burial will be in Macon Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Herbert Raleigh, Gene Williams, Tom Mickle, Brinson Birdsong, Grover Bedgood, and Earl Woodard. Mr. Mims was born in Laurens County, the son of Dan Mims and Mrs. Arly Mims and moved to Macon from Dublin in 1928. He was a member of the Foursquare Gospel Church on Houston Avenue. Surviving are his wife, the former Miss Nancy Stewart of Macon; two daughters, Mrs. Doyle Rowe and Mrs. Bob Ray, Macon; five sons, Velma Mims, Elbert Mims, Leroy Mims, and Theron Mims of Macon and Truman Mims of Rock Hill, SC; 11 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
