Floyd Mitchell officiating. Mrs. Phillips, a lifelong resident of Laurens County, was the daughter of the late Elbert and Drucilla Darsey Davis of Laurens County. She was married to the late J. O. Phillips and was a member of Buckhorn Methodist Church. Mrs. Phillips died Tuesday night in a local nursing home. Survivors include two daughters, Mavis P. Bellflower of Macon and Geneva P. Porter of Dickson, Tenn.; four sons, J. C. Phillips of Rome, Fred Phillips of Meridan, Miss., Charles E. Phillips of Memphis, tenn., and Jerry Phillips of Dexter; one sister, Julia D. Horne of Dexter; 20 grandchildren; and 21 great- grandchildren. Pallbearers will be W. R. Davis, Melvin Davis, Charles Davidson, William Starley, Wilburn NeSmith, and Prentice Starley. The body will lie in state at Townsend Funeral Home until 3pm Thursday. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7:30-9pm tonight.
