(Jim) Carroll williamcarrollj@bellsouth.net January 12, 2012, 8:22 pm The Dublin Courier Herald 8-1-1981 Mr. Stewart DRY BRANCH----- Services for Edward Harris Stewart, 56, of Rt. 1, Dry Branch, will be held at 2:30pm Sunday at the chapel of Townsend Brothers Funeral Home. The Rev. Donnie Sutton will officiate and burial will be in Pleasant Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. A native of Laurens County, Mr. Stewart was a retired truck driver, a veteran of World War II and a Baptist. His parents were the late Harris Stewart and Mary Jane Wood Stewart of Laurens County. He died Friday at a Dublin hospital following an extended illness. Survivors include two sons, Billy Stewart of Tucker and Eddie Stewart of New jersey; two daughters, Debra Platt of Atlanta and Diane Contley of Miami, Fla.; three brothers, Sgt. Elton Stewart of Columbus, Marion Luther Cox of Macon, and Gilson Hester of Dublin; three sisters, Avis Spivey of Dublin and Mrs. Joe Foskey and Grace Poole, both of Macon; and seven grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Roy Spivey, Don Spivey, Bill Foskey, Freddie Poole, Bobby Willis, and Hugh Willis. The family will receive friends at the funeral home tonight from 7:30 to 9pm.
