Yawn, 69, 608 Cardinal Drive, Dublin, died early Saturday morning in an Augusta hospital after being in declining health for several months. Funeral services will be held at 5pm today at the C. Homer Chapel with Rev. Jimmy R. Smith and Rev. J. C. Nalls officiating. Interment will be in Dublin Memorial Gardens. Born and reared in Dodge County, Mr. Yawn was the son of the late John Yawn and Nancy Chance Yawn. He was a retired employee of J. P. Stevens Company and had made his home in Laurens County since 1938. He was a member of the Jefferson Street Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Bernice T. Yawn, Dublin; three sons, John Willice Yawn, Chesapeake, Va., Donnie C. Yawn, Atlanta, and Tommy S. Yawn, Dublin; one daughter, Mrs. Hilda Y. Shepard, Brunswick; one sister, Mrs. Gladys Y. Fowler, Danville; and a number of grandchildren, great- grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. The family will be at his residence, 608 Cardinal Dr., and ask that flowers be omitted but contributions to the American Cancer Society would be appreciated.
