Hooks, 65, of Leesburg, who died early sunday in Phoebe Putney Hospital. His death followed four months of illness. Born in Albany, Mr. Hooks spent most of his life as a farmer in Leesburg. He had, however, spent some time in Florida where he was associated with the U. S. Engineers and later with the U. S. Sugar Corporation until 1944. He was a member of the Leesburg Baptist Church. Mr. Hooks is survived by his wife, Mrs. Cleo Adams Hooks; three children, Miss Betty Hooks of Jacksonville, Dick Hooks of Clewiston, Fla., and William Hooks of Leesbury; three sisters, Mrs. Fletcher McLeod of Pineview, Mrs. T. V. Hyman of Cordele, and Mrs. Ellen Johnston of Leesburg; his mother, Mrs. W. W. Hooks of Leesburg; four stepchildren and four grandchildren. Funeral services were held in the Leesburg Baptist Church at 3 p.m. with the Rev. G. Ashton Smith officiating. Interment was in Leesburg Cemetery. Active pallbearers included George Moreland Jr. Perry Kearse, Page Tharpe, Bill Nesbit, Dick Forrester, and Jimmy King. Honorary pallbearers were W. L. Thompson, bill bullock, the Rev. R. H. Forrester, John Robert Green, A. W. Davis, Jack forrester, Joe Forrester, U. F. King, B. A. whitley, J. S. Dobson, james McBride, James Forrester, Y. G. Faircloth, Goodman Hall and Hines Hammond. Kimbrell-Stern of the Albany Undertaking Company were in charge of arrangements.
