W. Hooks Sr. of Leesburg died this morning in Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital following an illness of three weeks. She had been a life-long resident of Leesburg and a member of the Leesburg Baptist Church. Mrs. Hooks was born July 26, 1874 in Harrisburg, S. C., the former Miss Nell Forrester, and died on her 82nd birthday. Mr. Hooks preceded his wife in death in 1935. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Fletcher McLeod of Pineview, Mrs. T. V. Hyman of Cordele and Mrs. Ellen Johnston of Leesburg.; a daughter-in- law, Mrs. W. W. Hooks, Jr. of Leesburg; two sisters, Mrs. Charles Williams of Lexington, N. C., and Mrs. Roy Dorminey of Fitzgerald; four brothers, J. K. Forrester, the Rev. R. H. Forrester and Edward S. Forrester all of Leesburg, and the Congressman E. L. Forrester of Washington, D. C. and Leesburg; six granchildren, Mack H. Hyman, Miss Mitzi Hyman and Miss Dianah Hyman, all of cordele. Dick Hooks of Clewiston, Fla., Bill Hooks of Ft. Myers, Fla. and Miss Betty Hooks of Jacsonville, Fla. and seven great grand children. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 4 p.m. in the Leesburg Baptist Church by the rev. G. Ashton Smith, pastor. Interment will follow in the Oakview Cemetery in Albany. The body will be placed at the church from 3 p.m. until the funeral hour. The following will serve as active pallbearers; Robert Lee, Lester Coxwell, Frank Stovall, R. C. Harris, Page Tharp and N. N. Nelson, all of Leesburg. An honorary escort will be composed of the following: Lynn Bell of Smithville, dr. Glenn E. Seymour and B. A. Whitley both of Albany. J. T. Horn, H. L. Turner, A. W. Davis, R. R. Green, C. C. Allen, Eugene Sanford, Bill Tarpley, E. B. Martin, George Moreland, Raymond Cannon, James Forrester, Bill Hopkins, Harry Lee, W. Y. Faircloth, Bill Smith, Perry Kearse, J. M. Rhodes, Sr., J. M. Rhodes, Jr., W. L. Tompson and Robert Heath all of Leesburg. Albany Undertaking Co. is in charge of arrangements.
