Obituary - 7 Jan 1971  J. W. Pye Sr. Died in City

  John Wesley Pye Sr., 85, 612 N. Davis St., died this morning in NurseCare 
Center.  Mr. Pye was born Jan. 26, 1885, in Lee County, the son of the late 
Jennie Williford Pye and Augustus Pye.
  He had been a lifelong resident of Lee County until moving to Albany seven 
years ago.  He was a retired farmer and a member of Thundering Springs Baptist 
Church and the Woodmen of the World.
  His wife was Mary Howell Pye, who died Jan. 19, 1963.
  Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. John Pits, Mrs B. E. Stripling and 
Mrs. Phillip W. Gralley, all of Albany, and Mrs. Kenneth Gaumer, Allentown, 
Pa., three sons, H. Glenn Pye and J. W. Pye Jr., both of Albany, and William A. 
Pye, Jacksonville, Fla.; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
  Funeral arrangements will be by Kimbrell-Stern.  The family is at the 
residence of Mr. and Mrs. John Pitts, 1707 Parker Ave.
