Stanton Drive, Smithville, died early Tuesday morning, January 2, 2001 at the Lillian G. Carter Nursing Center in Plains, GA. Mrs. Hogg, a native and lifelong resident of Smithville, was born the daughter of Pink M. and Estelle Lane Smith on March 5, 1928. She was a member of the Smithville Baptist Church and was the first female to ever serve on the City Council of Smithville. She was very active in the civic affairs of Smithville and the community and also worked for the former Manhattan Shirt Company of Americus for many years and in her later years was a homemaker. Funeral services will be held at 3pm today, January 4,2001 from the graveside at Smithville City Cemetery in Smithville. Officiating will be the Rev. Clayton Nowell and the Rev. Lance Fendley. Mrs. Hogg is survived by a sister, Juanita Montgomery of Smithville and a brother, Jack Smith, also of Smithville; one grandson, Kyle Preston Scott of Smithville and also a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda H. Scott in March 2000. The family will receive friends at the residence of Jack Smith, 174 Church Street, Smithville. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be her nephews: Bert Montgomery, Mike Montgomery, Freddy Montgomery, Rusty Smith, Jamie Smith, Bobby Gosa and Forrest Gosa, Jr. Harvey's Reese Park Chapel Funeral Directors is in charge of arrangements.
