To Messieurs Simon Munro En: Wright Donald Fraser & Thos Bolney or any three or four of them By his Excellency’s Command Thos Moodie D Secry ********************** MEMORANDUM This Sixth Day of August personally appeared before me Roger Kelsall Esq; one of his Majesty’s Justices assigned to keep the Peace in the parish of St John Simon Munro Donald Fraser & Thomas Bilney being Three of the Appraisers appointed to appraise the Goods and Chattels of John Jones Dealer deceased who being duly sworn, made Oath, that they would make a just and true Appraisement of all and singular the Goods and Chattels (ready Money only excepted) of the said John Jones deceased, as shall be produced by Mary Jones Administratrix of the Estate of the said John Jones deceased, and that they would return the same, certified under their Hands, unto the said Mary Jones within the Time prescribed in the within Warrant of Appraisement Sworn before me, the Simon Munro Day and Date, abovesaid. Boy………………………………….. 45….0 Phillis…………Girl……………………………………30….0 Sam…………..Boy…………………………………...25….0 Sue…………...Girl……………………………………17...10 £182.10 Simon Munro D Fraser Thomas Bilney ************************** Georgia Know all Men by these Presents, That We Mary Jones of the Parish of St John’s Widow John Forbes and Roger Kelsall both of the same Parish Esquires are held and firmly bound unto His Excellancy Sir James Wright Bart Capt General Governor, and Commander in Chief; in and over the said Province; in the full and just Sum of Two Thousand Pounds, Sterling Money of Great-Britain, to be paid to the said Governour, or to his Successors, Governors and Ordinaries of this Province, or their certain Attornies or Assigns. To which Payment well and truly to be made, we bind ourselves, and every of us, our and every of our Heirs, Executors, and Administrators, for the Whole, and in the Whole, jointly and severally, firmly by these Presents. Sealed with our seals, and dated the twenty fifth Day of June in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and twenty three The Condition of this Obligation is such, That if the bounden Mary Jones Administratrix of all and singular the Goods, Chattels and Credits of John Jones deceased, do make, or cause to be made, a true perfect Inventory of all and singular the Goods, Chattels and Credits of the said Deceased which have or shall come to the Hands, possession, or Knowledge of she the said Mary Jones or into the Hands or Possession of any other Person or Persons, for her And the same to made, do exhibit, or cause to be exhibited, into the Secretary’s office of this Province; at or before the twenty fifth Day of Septemr next ensuing. And the same Goods, Chattels and Credits, and all other the Goods, Chattels and Credits of the said Deceased at the Time of his Death, which at any time hereafter shall come into the Hands or Possession of the said Mary Jones or into the Hands or Possession of any other Person or Persons, for her do well and truly administer according to Law. And further, do make, or cause to be made, a true and just Account of her Administration, at or before the Twenty fifth Day of June next. And all the Rest and Residue of the said Goods, Chattels and Credits, which shall be found remaining on the said Administratrix Account (the same being first examined and allowed of by the Governour and Ordinary of this Province for the Time being)shall deliver and pay, unto such person or Persons respectively, at the said Governour and ordinary, by his Decree or Sentence, pursuant to the true Intent and meaning of an Act of Parliament, made in the twenty-second and Twenty-third Years of the Reign of King Charles the Second, entituled, An Act for the better settling of Intestate Estates, shall limit and appoint. And if it shall hereafter appear, that any last Will and Testament was made by the said Deceased, and the Executor or Executors therein named do exhibit the same to the said Governor and Ordinary, making Request to have it allowed and approved accordingly, if the said Mary Jones, above Bounden, being thereunto required, do render and deliver the said Letters of Administration (Approbation of such Testament being first had and made) to the said Governor and Ordinary, then this Obligation to be void and of none Effect, or else to remain in full Force and Virtue.
