All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/ga/gafiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Beth Collins http://www.genrecords.net/emailregistry/vols/00011.html#0002523 January 8, 2011, 7:57 pm Written: February 17, 1769 Recorded: May 22, 1769 Colonial Deed Book Q, pp. 205-206 This Indenture made the Seventeenth Day of February in the ninth year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the third Kind of Great Britain &c and in the year of our Lord 1769 between Benjamin Andrew of the one part and the Honourable Commissioners of the General Loan Office of the province of Georgia of the other part Witnesseth that for and in Consideration of the Sum of fifty pounds Sterling money of the said province to him the said Benjamin Andrew lent by the said Commissioners pursuant to the Act of assembly in case lately made and provided and by them or one of them in hand paid to the said Benjamin Andrew at or before the Sealing and Delivery of these presents the receipt whereof the said Benjamin Andrew doth hereby acknowledge and thereof doth acquit and Discharge the said Commissioners their Successors and assigns by these presents he the said Benjamin Andrew hath Granted bargained and sold & by these presents doth grant Bargain and sell unto the said Commissioners Successors and assigns Four hundred acres of Land in St. John’s parish adjoining Lands granted to Lydia Sanders / now Winn / and four Negroes named Charles ____ Hopewell and Sylvia To have and to hold the said Land & negroes and all and singular the premises hereby granted bargained and sold or intended to be with their appurtenances unto the said Commissioners their Successors and assigns forever provided nonetheless and these presents are upon this condition that if the said Benjamin Andrew his Heirs Executors administrators or assigns or any of them do and shall well and truly pay or cause to be paid unto the said Commissioners their Successors or assigns at their publick office the full Sum of Fifty pounds Lw money of the said province on the Seventeenth day of February which shall be in the year of our Lord 1776 and also do and shall in the mean time and until the said Sum of Fifty pounds Shall become payable as aforesaid well and truly pay or cause to be paid unto the said Commissioners their Successors or assigns the Interest of the said Fifty pounds after the Rate of Six pounds pr Centum per annum as by the Said act is provided on the Seventeenth Day of February yearly and in Every Year Successively from the Date of these presents the first payment to be made on the Seventeenth Day of February next ensuing the Dat hereof that then this present Indenture of Bargain and Sale and every clause article and Thing herein contained Shall cease determine and be utterly void and of non effect any thing herein contained to the contrary thereof in any wise notwithstanding In witness whereof the said parties have hereunto set their Hands and Seals the Day and year above written Sealed and Delivered Benj Andrew in the presence of us} Thos Shruder Andw Darling Received the Day and year first within written of the Commissioners within named the sum of fifty pound Sterling being the Consideration money within mentioned to be paid to me Witness Benj Andrew Thos Shruder Thomas Shruder maketh oath that he saw Benj Andrew sign seal and as his act and Deed Deliver the within mortgage to and for the purpose therein mentioned and that he with Andw Darling Subscribed their names as witnesses thereto Sworn this 22 Day of May 1769 Before me Tho Moody J.P. recorded 23d May 1769 File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/ga/liberty/deeds/andrew648dd.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.poppet.org/gafiles/ File size: 4.2 Kb
