All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/ga/gafiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Beth Collins http://www.genrecords.net/emailregistry/vols/00011.html#0002523 October 28, 2009, 6:42 pm Written: January 1, 1763 Recorded: February 17, 1764 Colonial Deeds Book C2, p. 780 Georgia To all Christian People to whom these presents shall come Samuel Lewis of the St Andrews Parish and Province aforesaid Labourer / Sendeth Greeting / Know ye that the said Samuel Lewis for and in Consideration of the sum of One Hundred and twenty eight pounds eleven shillings and five pence sterling to him the said Samuel Lewis for and in Consideration of the sum of One hundred pounds South Carolina Currency before the ensealing and delivery of these presents to him in hand well and truly paid by Samuel Jones of the same Parish and Province / Planter / For the absolute purchase of a Tract of Land hereafter particularly mention’d the receipt whereof the said Samuel Lewis doth hereby acknowledge and himself therewith fully satisfied and contented and and doth by these presents from every part and parcel thereof for ever acquit release and discharge the said Samuel Jones his heirs Executors administrators and assigns for ever Hath given granted bargained sold enfeoffed convey’d and confirm’d and by these presents Doth give grant bargain sell enfeoff convey and confirm unto the abovesaid Samuel Jones his heirs and Assigns for ever All that Tract or Parcel of one hundred acres of Land more or less in the Parish aforesaid situate lying and being on a swamp called the Altamaha River Swamp which said Tract or parcel of one hundred acres of Land more or less when first surveyed bounded in all sides on vacant land but now adjoins to the South on Lands of John Jones and hath such shape form or mark’d Trees as is expressly laid Down in a plan of the same annex’d to the original grant of the same given in with these presents under the hand of Henry Ellis Esqr late Governour of this Province bearing date the Twenty fifth Day of September in the year of our Lord Seventeen hundred and sixty Reference being thereunto had will more fully and largely appear To Have and to Hold the said Tract of one hundred acres of Land more or less together with the Appurtenances thereunto belonging unto the said Samuel Jones his heirs and Assigns to and for their only Uses Benefits & Behoofs forevermore And the said Samuel Lewis at the Delivery of these presents Doth promise Covenant and agree to and with the said Samuel Jones that he hath in himself full power and lawfull authority to grant sell and confirm the Trace or parcel of one hundred acres of Land more or less without any power of Revokation unto the said Samuel Jones his heirs & assigns for ever by virtue of the aforementioned Grant from his Majestys Representative And Further that the said Samuel Lewis his heirs and every person or persons Lawfully Claiming or to Claim any Estate Title or Interest unto the said Tract of Land of one hundred acres more or less by from or under him or them shall and will from Time to Time and at all Times hereafter at the reasonable Request Cost and Charges in the law of the said Samuel Jones his Heirs & Assigns make do acknowledge & Execute all and every such other lawfull and Reasonable Conveyances & Assurances in the Law whatsoever for the more perfect and Absolute Conveying & Assuring of the aforesaid Tract of Land as by the said Samuel Jones his heirs and Assigns or his or their Council Learned in the Law shall be reasonably advised devised or required And Lastly that the said Samuel Lewis his heirs Executors & administrators the said Tract or parcel of one hundred of Land more or less with the Appurtenances thereunto belonging unto the said Samuel Jones his heirs & assigns against all persons whatsoever shall and will forever warrant & Defend by these presents In Witness whereof the said Samuel Lewis have hereunto set his hand and seal the first day of January in the third year of his Majestys reign and in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and sixty three Sign’d seal’d and deliver’d Samuel Lewis Juner in Presence of James Andrew Ben Lewis Robert Jones I the underwritten subscriber one of the witnesses to this Deed of Sale did see Samuel Lewis delivery make of the above granted premises unto Samuel Jones by Turff and Twig.
