The Weekly Constitution, Atlanta, GA March 18, 1879
Hinesville Gazette:  Mr. W. A. Jones, of Riceboro river, in this county, made 
last year, with two plows, 450 bushes of corn; 2,500 bushels of rice; 200 
bushels of potatoes; 115 gallons of syrup; 150 bushels of peas; 150 bushels of 
oats - raising his own meat -- all at the expense of $1,200.  His rice brought 
$1.40 per bushel in Savannah; by the flood in October last, he lost at least 
500 bushels.  Can any one beat this good farming?  It shows what our low 
country lands are capable of producing, under good management and energy well 
directed.
