Whereas, Elizabeth M. Knox, a member of this church, departed this life on the 30th of March last, and, as we believe has joined the church triumphant above, the Baptist church at Lincolnton, in conference assembled, has thought it proper, as a fit memorial of the Christian worth of the deceased, to adopt the following resolutions: 1. That in the death of sister Knox, the church at Lincolnton has lost one of its most consecrated members. That her whole Christian life, in her humble sphere, has been a labor of love in the Master's cause; and during her long and sore afflication, with a "calm and thankful heart, from every murmur free," she has not left us without good hope, she is now happy beyond the river in the "rest that remaineth for the people of God." 2. That her love for the church and its ordinances and the sweet melodies of the Gospel, that mingle in blended harmony with the beautiful songs of Zion "which make glad the city of our God, " and which were ever her joy and delight, all commend her shinging Christian example to our highest emulation, and verify the promise in her that "my grace shall be sufficient for thee," and that, "earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot heal." 3. That we tender our sympathy to the bereaved family and request the church to furnish them with a copy of these resolutions; that the same be spread on our records, and copies be furnished to the Christian Index and Lincolnton News for publication.
