Mrs. H. A. Stevenson

Lincolnton, Ga., March 10-Mrs. Hattie A. Stevenson, relict of the late Newton W.
Stevenson, one of the most prominent planters and land holders this county has
produced, died at the home of her son-in-law, Dr. A. W. Burch, in this city,
Saturday night at 9:30 o'clock, following an illness of about a week beginning
with grippe and terminating with pneumonia, accentuated by the age of the deceased.

Mrs. Stevenson was seventy years of age and was born and raised near Goshen,
this county.  When yet a young woman she married Newton W. Stevenson and from
the union four children survive.  John H. Stevenson, Clifford L. Stevenson of
near Goshen, Mrs. W. G. Stevenson of Anderson, S.C., and Mrs. A. W. Burch of
this city, together with a number of grandchildren.

The funeral services and interment occurred at the old home place near Goshen at
10 o'clock this morning and the love and esteem in which the deceased was held
by practically the entire citizenry of the county was attested by the great
outpouring of people attending the last rites. 

The deceased was a woman of unusual character.  Kind and gentle, as a mother,
faithful and loving as a wife, and an earnest follower of the lowly Nazarene,
having been an active member of the Goshen Baptist church from young womanhood.
 Her departure marks the ending of the life of one of Lincoln's pioneers and a
member of one of the most prominent families of this section of the state.
