Will of Susannah Glaze,Lincoln Co.,Ga, 1857 ================================================================ State of Georgia, Lincoln County In the name of God Amen: I, Susanah Glaze, of state and county, being of advanced age, and knowing that I must shortly depart this life, deem it right and proper both as respects my self and family, that I should make a disposition of the property with which a kind providence has blessed me, do therefore make this my last will and testament hereby revoking all others heretofore made by me. Item 1st: I desire and direct that my body be buried in a decent and cristian (sic) like manner suitable to my circumstances and condition in life, my soul I trust shall return to rest with God who gave it as I hope for eternal salvation through the merit and atonement of the blessed and Savier (sic) Jesus Christ, whose religion I have professed and as I humbly hope enjoyed for thirty one years. Item 2nd: I desire and direct that all my just debts be paid by my executor hereinafter named as soon as circumstances will permit. Item 3rd: I give and bequeath to my son Thomas G. Glaze the sum of fifty (50) dollars in full of his distributive share of my estate. Item 4th: I give and bequeath to my son William D. Glaze the sum of fifty (50) dollars in full of his distributive share of my estate. Item 5th: I give and bequeath to my son Joseph W. Glaze the sum of fifty (50) dollars in full of his distributive share of my estate. Item 6th: I give and bequeath to my daughter Sidney N. Prather the sum of three hundred dollars in full of her distributive share of my estate. Item 7th: I have heretofore given to my daughter Delia C. Glaze a Negro woman named Fanny and her child Dorcas do hereby confirm said gift unto her, it being in full of her entire interest in my estate. Item 8: I give and bequeath to my son Henry H. Glaze the sum of fifty (50) dollars in full of his distributive share of my estate. Item 9th: As I have given my daughter Eleanor M. Florence the sum of three hundred and seventy (370) dollars which is in full of her distributive share of my estate. Item 10th: As I have given my daughter Sarah C. Williams the sum of three hundred and seventy (370) dollars which is in full of her distributive share of my estate. Item 11th: I give and confirm unto my daughter Elizabeth M. Knox a Negro girl named Hannah which Negro girl I gave off to her at her intermarriage with John G. Knox. Item 12th: I give and bequeath to my son John M. Glaze the sum of five (5) dollars in full of his distributive share of my estate. Item 13th: I give and confirm unto my daughter Susan H. Hawes a Negro boy about ten years of age which said Negro boy I gave off to her at her intermarriage with William L. Hawes. Item 14th: I give bequeath and desire that all the rest and residue of my estate after paying off the above legacies (not already paid) as specified in this my last will and testament to be equally divided between my daughter Elizabeth M. Knox and Susan H. Hawes share and share alike. Item 15th: I hereby constitute my friend Alexander Johnston Executor of this my last will and testament this 21st day of October 1853. Walton State of Georgia, Lincoln County I, Susannah Glaze, on this twenty first day of September in the year of our Lord Eighteen hundred and fifty seven do make and ordain this supplement to my last will and testament made and executed by me on the 21st day of October 1853 and witnessed by Daniel Jones, Minor Winn, John Dougherty and Pleasant E. Walton. It is my will and desire that my daughter Susan H. Harvey over and above that I have given her in my last will, spoken of, as a special legacy have and receive from my executor my bedstead two beds all my bed clothing and my trunk.
