All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/ga/gafiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Donna Newman centavo@lserv.com August 27, 2013, 9:56 pm Source: Microfilmed Will Record Written: October 22, 1822 Recorded: December 17, 1822 From familysearch.org, Georgia Probate Records, Lincoln County Wills and Estates 1796-1877, Vol B-E, pp 142-144, images 365 and 366 Georgia Lincoln County In the name of God Amen I William Statham of the State and County aforsaid, being Weak in body but of Sound mind and memory, blessed be Almighty God for the same, do make and publish this my Last Will and Testament In manner and form following (that is to say) Item the first I give and bequeath unto my beloved Wife Jean Statham the following Negroes, (to wit) Anderson, Eliza, & her Two Children, Mariah, and Jeremiah I do also Lend to my daughter Sarah Stribling One Negroe girl named Julia during her natural Life, but if she should have Living Issue, then I give the said Negroe Julia to her and her heirs forever I also Lend unto my Daughter Rhoda Quinn, one Negroe girl named Hannah & her Increase during her natural Life, and at her death, I give and bequeath the said Negroe Girl Hannah and her increase to the Heirs of her body to be Equally divided share and share alike I also give unto my Daughter Rhoda Quinn five dollars to be paid out of my Estate by my Executors & no more And also be it understood that I have already given my son Barnett Statham, five Hundred & Thirty nine dollars out of my Estate as part of his Legacy of the same which he is to account for in a future division Also my son Charles Statham has Received Received Two Hundred and Sixteen dollars of my Estate as part of his Legacy of my Estate to be accounted for in like manner It is my Will and desire that all my property both Real and personal not yet disposed to be Kept together on the plantation by my Executors, until the first day of December 1831 and the Crops arising from the said Lands and plantation, to be for the Benefit of my Wife Jean Statham & the Raising Clothing & Schooling my five youngest Children (to wit) Augustine D. Statham, William R. Statham, Richmond W. Statham, John A. Statham and Susan H. Statham. It is my Will and desire that all my property not yet disposed of on the first day of December Eighteen Hundred and Thirty One be Equally divided among my Eight following Children (to wit) Barnett Statham, Sarah Stribling, Charles Statham, Augustine D. Statham, William R. Statham, Richmond W. Statham, John A. Statham and Susan H. Statham share and share alike with this Exception that is to say that Barnett Statham, Sarah Stribling and Charles Statham to account to the others the amount of what they have already Received of my Estate – And I do hereby Constitute nominate and appoint my two Sons Barnett Statham and Charles Statham my Lawfull Executors to this my Last Will and Testament, hereby Revoking all other former Wills by me made – In Witness Whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal this Twenty Second day of October in the year of Our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Twenty Two. Glaze and after Being duly Sworn agreeable to Law saith they saw William Statham Deceased sign and heard him acknowledge this Instrument of Writing to be his Last Will and Testament and at the time of his so doing he was of a sound disposing mind and memory to the best of their knowledge, and also saw James Lesusier[?] sign as a Witness to the same John Tatom Thomas G.
