He was born in Emanuel Co. and lived in Atlanta and moved to Long Co. 38 years ago. He was self- employed in show business and the restaurant business for most of his life. He was a Mason, 3rd Degree Scottish Rite Mason and a Shriner for 57 years. He was a member of AlShihah Temple and Blue Lodge No. 390 in Macon and a honorary deputy sheriff for Long Co. for many years. He was a member of Pigott Branch Baptist Church. Survivors: his wife, Shirley PORTER of Glennville; a son and a daughter-in-law, Logan & Miriam PORTER of Glennville; two daughters, Joan KICKLIGHTER and Brenda LANGLEY, both of Hinesville; a brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Debbie MOREY of Long Co.; a sister, Maxine MOREY of Miami; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation: 6 p.m. today at Carter Funeral Chapel in Glennville. Funeral: 3 p.m. Saturday at Pigott Branch Baptist Church. Burial in church cemetery
