Glennville - James William "Bill" PORTER, 78, dued
Dec. 18, at his home.

He was born in Emanuel Co. and lived in Atlanta and
moved to Long Co. 38 years ago.  He was self-
employed in show business and the restaurant
business for most of his life.  He was a Mason, 3rd
Degree Scottish Rite Mason and a Shriner for 57
years.  He was a member of AlShihah Temple and Blue
Lodge No. 390 in Macon and a honorary deputy
sheriff for Long Co. for many years.  He was a
member of Pigott Branch Baptist Church.

Survivors: his wife, Shirley PORTER of Glennville;
a son and a daughter-in-law, Logan & Miriam PORTER
of Glennville; two daughters, Joan KICKLIGHTER and
Brenda LANGLEY, both of Hinesville; a brother and
sister-in-law, Jerry and Debbie MOREY of Long Co.;
a sister, Maxine MOREY of Miami; five
grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several
nieces and nephews.

Visitation: 6 p.m. today at Carter Funeral Chapel
in Glennville. Funeral: 3 p.m. Saturday at Pigott
Branch Baptist Church.  Burial in church cemetery
