WHEELER Co. D, 5th Ga Cavalry Regt "Caption" Photo of the Tombstone of Private Jacob G. Wheeler, of Company D, 5th Georgia Volunteer Cavalry Regiment, Killed in DeKalb County Georgia in August 1864. He was burried originally in a seperate grave near the expressway in Decatur, Georgia. His Toomb there was donated by the Ladies Preservation Society of Snellville, and was dedicated in 1920. His grave was the only impediment to construction of an important interchange, so the Georgia DOT arrainged to have the body relocated to his home Church, and reinterred. He was reinterred in the Elim Baptist Church Cemetery in Long County GA, with full military honors by the Liberty Independent Troop, GA ANG. The Liberty County Chapter DAC was in charge of the program.
